Carole Stewart Parker Redford, 75, of Vallejo, passed away on Aug. 1, 2013, in Antioch. Carole was born in San Francisco on Oct. 30, 1937. She always wanted to be a teacher and worked hard to attend college and obtained her bachelor’s degree in English from Cal State Hayward. She continued her education obtaining a master’s degree from St. Mary’s College in Moraga and advanced degrees from UC Berkeley in special education.
Carole, ‘Ms. Red’, taught special education at Sullivan Middle School in Fairfield for over 20 years before retiring to Vallejo. Carole was a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving as Relief Society President, teacher and advisor. She was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed travel, gardening, books, museums and her annual trips to Ashland, Ore., for the Shakespeare Festival.
A beloved mother, she is survived by her three children, David Redford, Liane Redford and Christy Redford; and her two brothers, Norman and Bill Stewart. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday Aug. 17, 2013, at the Vallejo LDS Church, 110 Los Santos Court, off of Tuolumne St. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the LDS Missionary Fund.
