Bernard “Bernie” Carl Siemers was born in Cincinnati on Sept 3, 1934, to German immigrants Josephine (Meyer) and William Franz Siemers. He passed away at the age of 79, on Feb. 6, 2014, after battling a lengthy illness.
He graduated from Menlo-Atherton High School in 1953. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in reserve status until 1961. He worked his way through college and graduated with a degree in business administration from San Jose State College in 1958.
He worked in the retail sales industry for more than 25 years. His hobbies included archery, bowling, softball, sports cars, racing, camping, fishing, hunting, nature study, photography and travel. He was a member of the International Association of Lions Clubs and the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and watching San Francisco Giants baseball and San Francisco 49ers football.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Greg Sward of Antelope; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Gene Mulata of Fairfield; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Ginny Siemers of Redwood City; sister and brother-in-law, Angie and Bob Fitzsimmons of New Hampshire; sister, Mary Jo “Tiffany” Tripp of Clear Lake; granddaughters, Megan Bonilla, Sara Johnson, Kristen Bonilla and Jenna Johnson; grandson, Ryan Mulata; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Carl and sister Kathy.
A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. Feb. 18, 2014, at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W. Texas St., Fairfield. There will be a gathering after the service in the Garden Room.
