Vacaville police honor their own for 2013 accomplishments

VACAVILLE — The Vacaville Police Department had its annual awards ceremony Wednesday to honor dozens for accomplishments in 2013.

Law enforcement personnel received accolades and acknowledgement with supervisors nominating department employees in various categories and a committee meeting to determine if the nominees meet the criteria for the award. Some categories necessitated a vote and committee review of each employee.

The top awards are:

  • Officer of the Year: Chuck Bailey
  • Investigator of the Year: David Kellis
  • ISD Case of the Year: Andrew Lechuga
  • Patrol Case of the Year: Lucy Makimoto
  • Employee of the Year: Brandi Cook
  • Customer Service of the Year: Kelly Richmond-Moore and Tonya Burroughs
  • Fire Dispatcher of the Year: Kristin Royal
  • Police Dispatcher of the Year: Stefanie Miller
  • Cadet of the Year: Madison Kelly

The afternoon ceremony opened with opening remarks from Chief John Carli and Mayor Steve Hardy. The new hires were also welcomed and include Kimberly Crespo, public safety dispatcher I; Officers James Criste, Brian Halley, Christopher Hill, Stephen Lopez and Daniel Torres; Kari Lee, property and evidence supervisor; Shelley Martin, administrative assistant; Rosa Mota, family support worker; and Randy Ulibari, interim chief of police, who finished his temporary term April 16 when Carli officially took over the rank of chief.

The ceremony also included other department awards, length-of-service awards and letters of commendation.
