VACAVILLE — The Vacaville Optimist Club encourages area students to contemplate the phrase “How dreams lead to success” as part of the Optimist International Essay Contest for 2014.
The Optimist Club will judge the local students’ essays, based on the theme. Winners will receive $100. The winning essays will be sent to the district level where college scholarships are awarded. The district winner gets a $2,500 college scholarship.
“Young students today have fresh ideas about the world and their future,” said club president Christina Baird, in a press release. “. . . This gives a wonderful opportunity to tap into their creativity and pursue possible scholarships at the same time.”
The deadline for entries is Feb. 7, 2014. Rules can be found on the Vacaville Optimist Facebook page.
