VACAVILLE — A pair of homes were damaged in a fire that required response from multiple fire agencies, Sunday.
Vacaville firefighters received a call about a structure fire about 10:15 a.m. on the 200 block of Putnam Court. After arriving at the scene minutes later, crews found a fire burning between two homes and called for mutual aid from the Dixon and Fairfield fire departments, as well as the California Medical Facility and the Vacaville Fire Protection District, according to Vacaville Battalion Chief Steve Bowman.
“Essentially, we had a storage shed between two structures that caught fire,” Bowman said.
The fire broke through the kitchen window of one residence and spread into the kitchen and attic.
The contents of the shed were totally destroyed, and there was also exposure on the exterior walls of the adjacent home, as well as interior smoke damage, Bowman said.
Bowman said the fire crews had the blaze under control at 10:37 a.m.
The cause appears to be accidental, but the fire remains under investigation, Bowman said.
