VACAVILLE — The city will spend about $2.9 million to fast-track a new fire station.
The budget change was approved Tuesday as part of the City Council’s consent calendar. The vote increases the 2013-14 capital improvement budget to account for the construction of the Southtown fire station.
City staff reported at the Aug. 13 council meeting that the city will be amending the current Southtown Development Agreement, thereby requiring the city to construct the new fire station and have it operational by fall of 2015. The council also approved the proposed floor plan for the station at that August meeting.
The new capital improvement budget amount is $21.3 million.
