VACAVILLE — Vacaville resident and state gubernatorial candidate Cindy Sheehan called the 35-year sentence of whistleblower Bradley Manning “another shameful day in U.S. history,” according to a Wednesday press release from her campaign office.
Sheehan, who announced she is running for governor in 2014, denounced Manning’s trial, saying it is yet another aspect “of this (in)justice system that persecutes truth-tellers and protects war criminals in the prior regime,” referring to the Bush administration.
Sheehan is an antiwar activist whose son, Casey, was killed in Iraq in 2004.
