VACAVILLE — Two people were killed and four others were injured in a head-on collision Sunday afternoon in Vacaville.
Firefighters and emergency medical personnel responded to a report of a traffic collision about 3:09 p.m. on the 100 block of Vine Street near Vineyard Court, according to Mark Mazzaferro, Vacaville’s public information officer.
Two cars hit head on. One passenger was ejected from one of the vehicles while another passenger had to be extricated from a vehicle. Initial reports indicated at least one person was trapped inside a vehicle. Two passengers were declared dead at the scene while four others were transported to area hospitals.
Neighbor Ted Loney, who heard the impact, said the road is dangerous.
“There’s a bad curve, and the kids seem to drive really fast down this road,” he said.
Loney said after the crash there were some teenage boys laying on the ground who appeared to be alive but injured. He said his wife saw a woman in a Mazda Miata who was dead and a male driver who wasn’t doing well.
“They were able to get him out of the vehicle, then he died,” Loney said.
The extent of the victims’ injuries was not known Sunday afternoon, according to Vacaville fire officials. The names of the victims were not released pending notification of their families.
Four ambulances and one air ambulance were dispatched to the scene. Vacaville police were still on the scene into the night, investigating the accident.
