VACAVILLE — Friends and family are planning a memorial fundraiser in honor of a former Vacaville resident who was shot and killed Saturday in North Dakota.

Derrick Spiegel, 28, was killed early Saturday in Williston, N.D. His Facebook page indicates he was a graduate of Will C. Wood High School and was married with children. He was living in Williston, N.D.

Friends and family of Williston set up the Facebook page “RIP Derrick Spiegel” and have opened a donation account for the family.

A memorial concert to benefit his children and wife is being planned for late April. The venue, date and time are still being planned, but volunteers and donations are needed. Organizers are asking for monetary donations as well vendors who can donate a DJ or bounce house for children.

To donate or volunteer for the fundraiser, contact Ashley Mervau at [email protected]

I agree, but wrong place wrong time, Derrick was a great guy, and there are other venues for your comment. We'll miss you Derrick. -Danny

Thank you Rich for keeping us informed. Now if you don't mind keeping your political business to yourself for a minute, I'm sure friends and family of this man would like kind thoughts left on this page only. My condolences to his family :(
