VACAVILLE — Two Vacaville High School students were injured about 8 a.m. Friday after being hit by a car as they crossed East Monte Vista Avenue at West Street.
There were three students in the crosswalk at the time.
The two 16-year-old females were transported via ground ambulance to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center. One was treated and released. The second had a fractured pelvis and was still being held for observation late Friday afternoon.
“The sun played a big factor in this,” said Sgt. Mark Donaldson of the Vacaville Police Department. It was just high enough in the sky to blind drivers traveling east on East Monte Vista Avenue.
The driver stopped right away.
Traffic was briefly rerouted around Dobbins and West streets.
