Greyhound ends service to Vacaville

VACAVILLE — Greyhound shut the doors Monday on its station in Vacaville with a notice telling customers seeking ticket and schedule information to go to the Greyhound station in Suisun City.

The ticket office at 1040 Mason St. had been closed for some time, but Greyhound buses continued to make stops there until Monday morning.

This now makes Suisun City the closest Greyhound bus station to Vacaville. The station is located in the Suisun City Train Depot at 177 Main St.

The first indication to the Suisun City Greyhound station agent that his station would be the only one of two left in Solano County was when he received notification of Vacaville’s closure Monday afternoon. Solano County’s only other Greyhound station is in Vallejo at 1500 Lemon St.

Vacaville residents who want to reach the Suisun City Greyhound station can take the FAST Route 20 from the Vacaville Transit Center at Allison Drive and Travis Way to the Westfield Solano transfer center. Then take FAST Route 5 to the Suisun/Fairfield Greyhound Agency at the Suisun City Train Depot.

This is the second time that Greyhound cut out its Vacaville stop. The first time was several years ago when Greyhound closed the Vacaville stop as part of a cost-cutting effort. The city of Vacaville got Greyhound to reopen the station with several incentives to save Greyhound money.

  1. This is a shame that Vacaville is losing bus service. Now they have no direct link to the Bay Area or Sacramento. If you don’t have a car, this makes traveling to either location from Vacaville a total pain.

  2. Greyhound vacating its Vacaville office is of no consequence to public transit passengers. Vacaville has great express bus service to Sacramento via FAST Line 30. As well, Vacaville has great express bus service to the Bay Area via FAST Line 40. There is local bus service to Davis via YoloBus Line 220. Residents of Vacaville needn’t be concerned about the loss of Greyhound bus service. We got it covered!
