VACAVILLE — The Solano County Coroner’s Office on Friday identified the victim in a Thursday vehicle accident at Alex Osuna, 15, of Vacaville.

He was the passenger in an 11:30 a.m. solo accident that took place on rural Fry Road near Clark Road. The 16-year-old driver lost control of a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer sport utility vehicle after driving at speeds of more than 100 mph, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Trailblazer severed a power pole, launched over a roadside ditch and rolled across a field. The driver suffered major injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical center.

Five sentences were written about the loss of a precious life. Sadly, the writer didn't care enough to write the accurate age of the driver. Was he 15 as stated in the first sentence or 16 as stated in the third sentence? Surely taking 10 seconds to review the brief article would have caught such a sloppy error.

The driver was 16 and the 15 year old was a passenger.

If you would look back at the article Cathi Calloway, you will see that the writer said that the passenger who died was 15 years old and that the driver was 16 years old.
