VACAVILLE — Coach Ken Carter, who was played by Samuel L. Jackson in the movie, “Coach Carter,” will be in Vacaville on Saturday as part of  “A Turn for Life.”

Carter will speak at 1 p.m. at Will C. Wood High School, 998 Marshall Road. The event is designed to address the high school dropout rate while showing youth there are options to a brighter future.

“Our goal is to inspire them to begin thinking and dreaming new dreams and choosing new and positive paths for a meaningful life,” said Oneal Young Jr., pastor at Living Water Church, which is sponsoring the event.

Basketball games will run inside the gym beginning at 9:30 a.m. and continue into the afternoon.
