VACAVILLE  — The Chinese-American Association of Solano County will celebrate The Year of the Horse at its 18th annual Chinese New Year celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Ulatis Cultural Center, 1000 Ulatis Drive.

The event is sold out.

Festivities will include an authentic Chinese meal, traditional Chinese Lion Dance, cultural performances, a magician, scholarship presentation, raffle prizes, a silent auction and recognition of outstanding community contributors, according a press release on the event.

The association offers scholarships to local high school students, as well as sharing its cultural heritage by supporting local and regional charities and partnering with local community organizations.

Proceeds from the event directly benefit the organization’s scholarship program. In the past 17 years, 163 students have received scholarships from the association totaling more than $124,000.

For more information, call Beth Gasang at 451-0130, ext. 17.
