VACAVILLE — Authorities on Monday released the name of the man killed Sunday in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 near Cherry Glen Road.

Robert Budzinski, 59, of Vallejo, died after his vehicle left the roadway along westbound I-80, flipped several times, hit a tree and came to rest on its wheels on the right shoulder of the freeway, various authorities report.

Witnesses said Budzinski vehicle drifted off the freeway without braking and hit the oak tree, Battalion Chief Steve Bowman said Sunday.

This is the second traffic fatality in two weeks along the same stretch of roadway.

A 23-year-old Oakland woman died March 9 after a eucalyptus tree fell onto the freeway and hit her car as she was driving westbound on I-80 near Cherry Glen Road.
