VACAVILLE — Matthew Pryor, a man who spent several hundred hours cleaning up Vacaville’s graffiti, was announced Monday as the Vacaville Police Department’s 2010 Volunteer of the Year.
Pryor was one of nearly four dozen volunteers who were honored April 12 by Vacaville police, the department stated in a press release.
Pryor started with the Volunteers in Police Service Graffiti Task Force in 2009 and rose to the position of team coordinator and trainer. His work his allowed the department to improve the graffiti removal process.
In 2010, Pryor submitted 209 vandalism reports and served more than 602 hours. He has also been a part of the VIPS Streetlight Night Patrol, even donating some hand-held spotlights to the program.

Presidential Silver Award: Jerilyn McCord, Rosemary Jackson, Jackie Martinson, Lawrence DeHart, Johanna Hoagland, Lawrence Davis, Jr., Robert Fulton, Kenneth Gallagher, Bradford Jones, Peggy Rourk, Diane Stadler, Lawrence Hall, Jackie Graves and Ralph Petty.
Presidential Gold Award: Raymond Benjamin, Renee McAlpin-Hensley, Bruce DuClair, Matthew Pryor, Joseph Foti, Sally Raudy, Lela Watkins, Shirley Tytler and Gus Aleveras.
