Wildlife advocates to offer animal care class

SUISUN CITY — The Suisun Marsh Natural History Association will hold a class in basic wildlife care the evenings of March 5 and March 7.

The goal of the class is to train volunteers to help at the Suisun Wildlife Center. Training includes wildlife introduction plus basic care and training.

In 2012, the wildlife center cared for a variety of animals, including nearly 100 raccoons, more than 70 opossums, plus hawks, owls and other birds of prey.

I have filled out like 6 applications to be a volunteer there and they have said each time they will definetly call me then they don't. Now that I am moving out of state they do this? lol I hope they get a lot of volunteers, I am a huge animal lover and hope this place sticks around for a long time, the wild animals need a place to go when they are not well. Last 4th of July I found a deceased possum hit by a car and lots (8 or so) baby possums about the size of half of a manderine orange on the street trying to get to safety. I scooped up the 4 that were alive and took them to this wildlife center and they rehabilitated them, fed and cared for them and a month later 3 of them were back in the wild (the 4th one died soon after arriving at the center) This is a great place for animals to get back on their feet. Please support them in any way you can!
