SUISUN CITY — Rio Vista resident Patricia McDonald, 82, died after a July 22 collision at Highway 12 and Walters Road where stop lights malfunctioned, the Solano County Coroner’s Office said.

Suisun City Police Cmdr. Tim Mattos had said the accident happened at about 4:55 p.m., after the traffic lights at the intersection stopped working.

Mattos said employees of the city’s Public Works Department and the California Department of Transportation were en route to the scene when the accident occurred. A Mercedes-Benz sedan and another white sedan were involved in the crash and both drivers were taken to area hospitals.

I knew the deceased very well and she was an excellent driver. It would be helpful not to cast an arbitrary judgment when we are coping with her death. The facts of this case have not been established yet. Allow us to grieve.
