SUISUN CITY — Adam and Suzanne Land watched as their twins screamed with delight jumping in a bounce house Saturday afternoon.
Adam Land said their children, age 6, have a lot of excess energy in the winter. It can be hard to find cheap or free activities this time of year that can be done as a family, he said.
“We want to tire them out so they can nap and we can get a break,” Suzanne Land said, laughing.
So when the family heard about the Family Fun Expo in the Kroc Center gymnasium, the whole family was on board, Adam Land said.
Sheena Lane, the founder of the newly formed nonprofit, 4 Legged Kidz, organized the event to benefit local businesses and also spread the word about her nonprofit that shelters pit bulls.
The all-day event delivered something for everyone in their family, Suzanne Land said. It had the bouncy house for the children, shopping for mom and burgers for dad.
Sixty vendors from the community participated in the event, displaying a range of goods and services such as jewelry, clothing, food, photography and crafts. There were other free activities for children including face painting and ukulele lessons.
Jennifer Wilder said she also enjoyed how much their was to do for her family, which included her fiance and her four children. She liked the family friendly atmosphere of the Kroc Center.
“We’re having a blast,” she said. “It’s a really safe environment that I’m comfortable letting (my children) explore.”
