SUISUN CITY — Local community groups and nonprofits have until Feb. 4 to apply to sell fireworks in Suisun City this summer at one of three city-approved fireworks stands.

Applications are now available on the Suisun City Fire Department’s website, www.suisun.com/departments/fire-department, or at the Suisun City Manager’s Office in City Hall, 701 Civic Center Blvd.

A drawing will be held at noon Feb. 19 at in the City Council Chamber at Suisun City Hall to determine which groups get the three available sales permits.

This will be the third year that fireworks have been legally sold in town after the City Council approved their sale in early 2012 as a way to pay for the city’s Fourth of July fireworks show and other community events.

Any questions regarding the fireworks sales program should be made to Suisun City Fire Chief Mike O’Brien at 421-7205.

As Fairfield ignores yet another opportunity. Why, because there could be problems? You weren't going to enforce them anyway.
