Wolk bill addresses firearm purchases

By From page A3 | April 18, 2013

FAIRFIELD — A bill from Sen. Lois Wolk, D-Davis, would add to list of crimes that would prohibit someone from buying a firearm for 10 years.

The California Senate Public Safety Committee voted 5-2 Tuesday to approve SB 755. The bill makes several additions to the list of crimes subject to a 10-year prohibition to buying a gun in California. It will next be heard in the Senate Appropriations Committee.

The proposed new crimes include multiple drug or alcohol offenses within a three-year period, taking a firearm or weapon from a police officer, threatening an officer and several gang-related offenses. It would also apply to those who receive assisted outpatient treatment for serious mental illness.

This sounds like a resonable bill that addresses mental health, hx. Of violence and addiction issues. What I have not seen published are the stats on gun violence amongst registered gun owners.

Sounds Orwellian or Stalinistic---the no-gooders will still be able to gain access to weapons. What Lois won't tell you is they've tried this in the worst crime areas of the nation and it left the population defenseless.
