Tuskegee Airmen Highway set for dedication

By From page A4 | February 06, 2014

DIXON — A portion of Interstate 80 will be dedicated Thursday to honor a groundbreaking World War II military unit.

The Tuskegee Airmen Memorial Highway stretches from Midway Road on the east side of Vacaville to the Highway 12 east interchange in Fairfield.

Special highway designation came as a result of legislation by state Sen. Lois Wolk, D-Davis, who will attend the ceremony.

The dedication will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building, 1305 N. First St., Dixon.

Three members of the Solano County Board of Supervisors, Jim Spering, John Vasquez and Erin Hannigan, are scheduled to attend. Assemblywoman Mariko Yamada, D-Davis, will also attend.
