Third graders invited to Youth Ag Day March 19

VALLEJO — March 19 is the date for the 11th annual Youth Ag Day at the Solano County Fairgrounds. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event brings third-graders from around the county for a first-hand experience with a range of agricultural activities and exhibits. More than 3,000 youth are expected.

It’s presented by the Solano County Fair Association in conjunction with the Solano County Department of Agriculture and Solano County 4-H and FFA.

“This event is one of the highlights of our year-round calendar of celebrations,” said Norma Placido, fair board president, in a press release. “It gives us the opportunity to share with our county third-graders a glimpse of the agricultural heritage that is at the heart of what fairs and fairgrounds are all about.”

Each student who attends Ag Day is given a free ticket to the Solano County Fair. Dates are July 31 through Aug. 4.

Volunteers and sponsors are needed for Ag Day. Information for schools, presenters, sponsors and volunteers can be found at www.SCFair.com on the Youth Ag Day page. For more information, call 551-2002 or email AgDay@SCFair.org.
