SUISUN VALLEY — An event to honor Suisun Valley’s formal designation as a producer of fine wines takes place Thursday with the Suisun Valley Ava Anniversary Celebration.
Participants will enjoy special wine and food pairings as they experience Suisun Valley at the start of winter.
The celebration marks the anniversary of the area’s designation in December 1982 as an American Viticultural Area.
It’s presented by the Suisun Valley Vintners and Growers Association.
Organizers said the celebration takes place between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day to provide another way for families and friends to spend time together during the holiday season.
Participating venues include GV Cellars, 1635 Mason Road; Il Fiorello Olive Oil Company, 2625 Mankas Corner Road; Ledgewood Creek Winery, 4589 Abernathy Road; Suisun Valley Wine Cooperative, 4495 Suisun Valley Road; and Wooden Valley Winery, 4756 Suisun Valley Road.
The event begins at noon and continues to 5 p.m. Admission includes a logo glass, special tastings and food samples at each location. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Dr. Richard E. Zimmerman fund at Sutter Medical Foundation, organizers have announced.
