FAIRFIELD — Potential candidates for some Travis School District, Solano Irrigation District and Cordelia Fire Protection District board seats will have until 5 p.m. Wednesday to file, given that incumbents chose not to run again.
Travis School District board member Gary Craig of Trustee Area 2 did not file papers to run in the Nov. 5 election by Friday’s deadline, triggering the extension. Trustee Area 2 covers the district outside of Travis Air Force Base and has two seats on the ballot.
Filing to run for Travis school board Trustee Area 2 were incumbent Donna Bishop, Riitta Irmeli De Anda and John Paul Dickerson, according to the county Registrar of Voters.
The extension doesn’t affect Trustee Area 1, which covers only Travis Air Force Base. Incumbent Dawn Wussow Kirby was the lone person to file.
Also on the ballot is the Cordelia Fire Protection District board. That deadline also is extended until 5 p.m. Wednesday. Three seats are available and only appointed incumbent Henry William Doll III and incumbent James Peter Frische filed.
The Solano Irrigation District Board Division 1 in the Dixon area saw only incumbent John David Kluge file, so no extension applies there. But Division 5 in the Suisun Valley area had the deadline extended because nobody filed to run. Robert Hansen is the incumbent.
