FAIRFIELD — Solano County’s exhibit at the 2014 California State Fair won the fair’s Gold Award for Excellence.

The exhibit, titled “Then and Now,” features an old-fashioned produce stand filled with fruits, nuts and vegetables grown in Solano County. It includes educational brochures, photographs and a video production and free samples from Jelly Belly.

Solano County will also be trying to win the People’s Choice Award, which it has won 10 times over 14 years. Determined by fairgoers, the award goes to the county with the most votes during the fair’s run. This year the fair runs through July 27, a county press release said.
