FAIRFIELD — Visitors to all Solano County libraries will be greeted with cookies and a special hunt for bookmarks that can be exchanged for free books during customer appreciation day Tuesday.
“We get so much support from our customers, the people who come in every week with a smile and the taxpayers who make libraries a priority in Solano County,” said library spokeswoman Ann Miller in a news release. “This is just a small gesture to say thanks.”
Bookmarks will be stashed throughout the libraries. They can be redeemed for free books, courtesy of Friends of the Library. There also will be a Jelly Belly guessing game and gifts for the first person to enter the library at a predetermined time.
It’s a busy time for the libraries, according to the news release. A recruitment for volunteer literacy tutors started with 115 people waiting to be matched. It’s also Library Card Sigh-up Month. The John F. Kennedy Library in Vallejo will reopen this month and the SoFitCity 5k/10k run to benefit the library is Sept. 28.
“There is a lot of buzz about the library this September and we want to be sure to put our customers front and center,” Miller said. “Without them, we would be merely archives – not living, breathing libraries.”
Among the Solano County libraries are the Fairfield Civic Center Library at 1150 Kentucky St.; Fairfield-Cordelia Library at 5050 Business Center Drive; Suisun City Library at 601 Pintail Drive; Vacaville Public Library-Cultural Center at 1020 Ulatis Drive; Vacaville Public Library-Town Square at 1 Town Square Place; and Rio Vista Library at 44 S. Second St.
