VACAVILLE — Ourania Riddle is the new president of the Solano County Taxpayers Association, which will celebrate its 54th anniversary in 2014.
Riddle, a 30-year Dixon resident, is a strong advocate of open government who has been a member of the taxpayers association for 29 years and has served previously as its president, secretary and treasurer, according to a press release. She was the author of Measure N, the Dixon Open Governance Act.
She and other officers were installed at the taxpayers annual installation meeting held Dec. 12 at Joe’s Creekside Cafe in Vacaville. First vice president is Drew Graska, also of Dixon. Second vice president is George Guynn Jr. of Suisun City. Re-elected treasurer is Gary Riddle. Secretary is Wanda Kiger-Tucker.
The executive officer of the Contra Costa County Taxpayers Association, Alex Aliferis spoke at the meeting about his group’s strong opposition to the Delta Tunnels.
Riddle served on the Solano County Grand Jury for two terms and on the board of directors of the California Grand Jurors Association. She served as editor of the Grand Jurors’ Journal and was a trainer for statewide county grand juries. She is also a founding member of the Solano County Chapter of the California Grand Jurors Association.
She is an active member and a volunteer of Californian’s Aware, a nonprofit organization established to help journalists and others keep Californians aware of what they need to know to hold government and other institutions accountable, the press release stated. She is also an active member of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association.
The taxpayers association began in October 1960.
