Schools, governments close doors for holiday

By From page A3 | February 17, 2014

FAIRFIELD — City and county offices and local schools will be closed Monday in observance of President George Washington’s birthday. This includes local courts and county libraries.

Emergency services are not interrupted by the holiday, which is also known as Presidents Day.

Monday is a no-mail day for the U.S. Postal Service. Monday is also an observed federal holiday for many who work at Travis Air Force Base. The local Social Security office will be closed. State offices, including the local Department of Motor Vehicles office, will be closed as well.

Trash collection in the area will continue with its normal schedule. The Daily Republic will be open during normal business hours.
