SafeQuest Solano names board member to lead nonprofit

FAIRFIELD — SafeQuest Solano continued to shift personnel and has named a board member as the new executive director.

Toni Dumont replaces the Rev. David C. Isom, who served as interim director and will continue as the nonprofit’s deputy director.

Isom was named executive director in December after replacing Violet Barton, who was out on extended leave. He is a local pastor and a Fairfield-Suisun School District trustee.

Because it’s a personnel issue, Isom said he couldn’t go into details. He did say that bringing in an outsider to help with internal issues would have been a challenge.

“(Dumont) knows what we are dealing with,” Isom said. “We did not want to bring someone into an unstable environment. There’s no way we could explain the challenges, which we will overcome.”

Isom said he will continue to handle the public duties of the position while Dumont will handle most of the day-to-day duties.

Dumont has extensive management experience that includes nonprofit organizations, as well as a commitment to the support and services SafeQuest provides to the community, Isom said.

Shannon Barkley, SafeQuest Solano board president, said in a press release that the organization is on the right path. Barkley expressed confidence in the abilities of Dumont and Isom to lead the nonprofit “toward our shared goal of enjoying collaborative relationships built upon mutual respect with other community stakeholders.”

SafeQuest Solano has served victims of rape and sexual assault since 1978.
