FAIRFIELD — A free, 4-mile guided hike in the Rockville Trails Preserve will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, the Martin Luther King Jr holiday.
The 1,500-acre preserve in the hills between Suisun and Green valleys is owned by the Solano Land Trust and open to only docent-led hikes. Participants on this hike will learn about the area’s natural history and wildlife.
Space is limited and registration is required. To register, please go to the events calendar at solanolandtrust.org, go to http://conta.cc/1hrhwVT, or call 745-1913. Hikers will meet at the red Ice House building near the Suisun Valley and Rockville roads intersection and take car pools to the trailhead.
Hikers should bring a backpack with water and lunch. They should wear hiking boots or sturdy closed-toe shoes with good tread, long, sturdy pants and layered clothes that provide protection from the elements. Hiking sticks, bug repellent, binoculars and a camera are also recommended, a Land Trust press release said.
