Road work to cause Highway 37 night closures

By From page A7 | May 07, 2014

FAIRFIELD — A main highway link between Solano County and Sonoma and Marin counties will be closed five consecutive nights from Sunday through May 15.

The state Department of Transportation will be doing maintenance and pavement work on Highway 37 between Highway 29 in Vallejo and Highway 121 in Sonoma County. The highway will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., with ramp closures beginning at 8 p.m., a Caltrans press release said.

Work is weather-permitting.

During the overnight highway closures, westbound motorists can go north on Highway 29, then south on Highway 121 and re-enter Highway 37 at the Highway 121/Highway 37 interchange, the press release said. Eastbound motorists would reverse that route.

The state gasoline tax of 67.79 cents per gallon could be replaced with a "miles driven fee" of $0.05 cents or so per mile driven, under state legislation proposed by state Sen. Mark DeSaulnier (D-Concord) Under SB 1077, a still-to-be-determined California city would begin taxing motorists in January 2016. The longer your commute, the more you would pay. We need to stop this in it's tracks . I think you good Liberals with your toyota prius,, GM's Volt or Nissan Leaf have been good, you did your part to save mother earth , but now the D's are comming after you and.your wallet You might want to adjust your voting habbits in the future elections...
