Remembering the Lincoln

By From page A4 | July 08, 2013

FAIRFIELD — The Daily Republic is interested in hearing from those who have stories and memories about the Lincoln Highway.

This year is the 100th anniversary of the Lincoln Highway – a subsequent offshoot of the original highway runs through Solano County with some visible markers left over from its heyday.

What do you remember? Where did the highway take you and how old were you?  We would also like to know if you remember its demise as a main thoroughfare and the building of Interstate 80. What were your thoughts at the time regarding “progress?” Perhaps it was the end of a simpler era or the beginning of something better for you.

The Daily Republic would like to hear from you. Please send an email to [email protected] with “Lincoln” in the subject line. Include a contact name and phone number. If you have photos, even better. You can also call Susan Winlow at 427-6955.
