SUISUN CITY — Two free workshops at Rush Ranch during the first weekend of 2014 are designed to help visitors lower stress and become more centered.
The free workshops, called “Mindfulness on the Marsh: Start your new year by relaxing in the here and now,” will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 4 and Jan. 5 at Rush Ranch, 3521 Grizzly Island Road, about two miles south of Highway 12. Guests are welcome to come for one or both.
A press release from the Solano Land Trust stated that workshop participants will learn to practice mindfulness – quieting your thoughts and focusing your awareness on the present moment, non-judgmentally. Both days are led by Dr. Peaslee DuMont, who has been practicing mindfulness for more than 25 years.
The workshop is recommended for ages 15 and older and participants should be prepared for extended periods of silence and guided mediation, lots of sitting and slow walking. The workshop will take place rain or shine. Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and layers to protect from the cold and wind. A notepad and writing instrument are also recommended.
No reservations are necessary, but RSVPs are appreciated and questions are welcome by calling 432-0150 ext. 200 or email@example.com.
