WINTERS — Trout on the Rise will be the topic of a Putah Creek Council event Aug. 21.

This latest edition of the CreekSpeak series will begin at 7 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Theatre Club Room, 203 E. 14th St. in Davis. It will explain ongoing conservation work to improve and expand the cold water wild trout fishery and recreational opportunities in the 4-mile reach of Putah Creek that flows from Monticello Dam into Lake Solano.

The presenter is Steve Karr, chairman of the board for Putah Creek Trout and a fly fisherman for more than 50 years. CreekSpeak talks are free to Putah Creek Council members. The council requests a small donation from nonmembers.
