MONTEZUMA HILLS — Train rides and pumpkins will once again both be in the spotlight with the return of the Western Railway Museum’s Pumpkin Patch Festival.
The event will take place each Saturday and Sunday from Oct. 12 through Oct. 27. The museum opens at 9:30 a.m. and trains run every half-hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors take an electric train on a five-mile trip to Gum Grove Station in the remote eastern county.
Local Rotary Club members from Fairfield-Suisun, Cordelia and Dixon are providing a hay-bale fort, food, tractor rides, music, games and pumpkins for sale. Proceeds from the event benefit the nonprofit museum.
The Western Railway Museum is located at 5848 Highway 12, halfway between Fairfield and Rio Vista. For more information, visit www.wrm.org, www.facebook.com/WesternRailwayMuseum, or call 374-2978.
