FAIRFIELD — Residents can turn in expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs April 27 for safe disposal.
The event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at four sites in the county. They are the Sheriff’s Office at 520 Clay St. in Fairfield, Rio Vista Police Department at 50 Poppy House Road, the Dixon Police Department at 201 W. A St. and the Benicia Police Department at 200 E. L St.
Participants are asked to remove all personal information. They can bring pills in sealed plastic bags and must seal all liquids and creams. Needle waste will not be collected, but residents can go to http://Recycle.SolanoCounty.com for drop-off sites.
“These take-back events give the public a safe and convenient alternative that protects our environment,” said Narcisa Untal, county integrated waste management planner, in a press release.
