FAIRFIELD — Remember a furry family member on Tuesday with a candlelight ceremony in Vallejo.
The eighth annual Pet Remembrance Candle Lighting, sponsored by the Nikki Hospice Foundation for Pets and the Humane Society of the North Bay, will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Rizza Auditorium at California Maritime Academy, 200 Maritime Academy Drive.
The public event, which is held yearly on March 5 at venues worldwide, is open to all Bay Area residents, and attendees are asked to bring photos of deceased or lost pets. The photos will be mounted on poster board after the ceremony and become a permanent display at the Humane Society of the North Bay, 1121 Sonoma Blvd. in Vallejo.
Those unable to attend can mail pet photos to the Humane Society identifying the photo as “Pet Loss Memorial” material.
The public is invited to begin gathering at 6:30 p.m. The event includes various speakers in addition to the candlelighting.
