Outreach program helps community

FAIRFIELD — The Mount Calvary Baptist Church and Operation THUGS Latino Community Outreach held a barbecue for the residents of the Delta Apartments on Crowley Lane on Saturday.

Each month the church and THUGS pick one apartment to have not just a meal, but also a time to “Love on the community,” Minister Tony Adams, Evangelism/Mission Director, Mount Calvary Baptist Church said. The church will bring books, clothing, bibles and food for the low-income apartment dwellers.

“We just want to share the love,” Adams said.

Anyone is welcome at the events, which are spread out all over Fairfield throughout the year. Operation THUGS Latino Community Outreach is working hard to reach out to those in need in the Latin communities.

“We have started a Spanish Bible study. We also have begun a tutoring program, teaching kids how to use computers, reading, math and writing,” Team Leader Ivonne Malave said.

Thank you! I am the Evangelism/Mission Director not the Pastor of MT. Calvary. Our Pastor is the Rev. Dr. Claybon Lea Jr. Thanks again, Minister Tony Adams
