FAIRFIELD — The low temperature recorded early Thursday at Travis Air Force Base tied a record low set Dec. 12, 2011 – 26 degrees, according to Mike Pechner of Golden West Meteorology in Cordelia.
The tie brings to four the number of record lows recorded during the weeklong cold streak.
A record low of 21 degrees was recorded early Dec. 6. Another record low was recorded early Tuesday – 24 degrees. Wednesday morning saw a third record low, 26 degrees.
Thursday’s record-tying low temperature was recorded shortly before 6 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
The overnight low at Nut Tree Airport in Vacaville was 24 degrees shortly before 7 a.m., the National Weather Service reports.
Friday’s forecast called for an above-freezing low in Fairfield – 35 degrees – rising to the high 30s through the weekend and 40 degrees Monday morning. Friday’s forecast for Vacaville called for a just-freezing low of 32 degrees, rising to the mid-30s into the weekend and the high 30s Monday morning.
