FAIRFIELD — One of the few two-lane segments of Highway 12 in Jameson Canyon will be reduced to one lane at times starting next week as workers do paving.
Work is to take place on eastbound Highway 12 from Kelly Road to Lynch Road in Napa County. It is to be done from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays through Dec. 24, weather permitting, a state Department of Transportation press release said.
Caltrans had previously announced the paving would take place earlier in the month. However, cold weather caused a delay in finishing the work.
The work may mean slower speeds for eastbound motorists during construction hours. The California Highway Patrol and flaggers will help direct motorists. Caltrans will install changeable message signs. Motorists should allow for extra travel times, the press release said.
Workers are widening Highway 12 linking Interstate 80 in Solano County and Highway 29 in Napa County to four lanes for its entire length. The project is scheduled to be finished next summer.
