Miss Solano 2012 pageant set Feb. 18 in Benicia

FAIRFIELD — Seven young women will compete in the Feb. 18 Miss Solano 2012 Scholarship Pageant in Benicia.

They are Gia Rivera, Sapphire Divine and Merasha Scurry, all of Vallejo; Arienne Moran of Concord; Alexandra Tayson of Vacaville; Courtney Strysko of Castro Valley; and Anabella DiFrancesco of Benicia.

They will be judged on private interviews; talent, lifestyle and fitness in swimsuit; presence and poise in evening wear; and an on-stage question. The winner will represent the area at the Miss California pageant June 26-30 in Fresno.

This is the third year for the Miss Solano Scholarship Organization, according to a press release. The program is also open to young women in Yolo and Contra Costa counties as those counties don’t have an official Miss America preliminary pageant, according to the release.

Julianna Johnson, a student at the UC Davis, is the current Miss Solano.

The event is at the Hayley Horn Auditorium on the campus of Benicia High School at 1101 Military West. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The pageant begins at 7 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at the door. For information, visit http://www.MissSolano.org.
