By From page A3 | January 11, 2014

FAIRFIELD — Lynch Canyon open space  preserve will open to the public on Mondays starting Jan. 20, just in time for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

The Solano Land Trust owns the 1,039-acre open space area in the hills between Fairfield and Vallejo along Interstate 80 and Solano County runs it as a park. It is presently open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays only.

“Opening on Mondays will allow the public to take advantage of Monday holidays and other long weekends,” said Dan Sykes, Solano County parks manager, in a press release.

Lynch Canyon is located at 3100 Lynch Road and can be reached from the Fairfield and Suisun City areas by using McGary Road. It has about 10 miles of hiking trails. Go to www.solanocounty.com/parks or www.solanolandtrust.org for more information.
