FAIRFIELD — Plans are underway for Vallejo’s 26th Annual Juneteenth Celebration on June 21.
The event moves this year to City Park at 425 Alabama St. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It’s the only public Juneteenth celebration in Solano County, organizers said in a press release.
“With attendance and expenses going up year after year, we’re excited to partner with Greater Vallejo Recreation District as our co-sponsor to celebrate Juneteenth in Vallejo’s oldest park, where we’ll have more space, plenty of shade and a great play structure for kids,” said Angela Jones, president of the African American Family Reunion Committee, in the press release.
The Juneteenth Celebration will include exhibitors providing a variety of consumer information, and vendors selling clothing, jewelry and accessories, beauty products, artwork and more.
Children and youth are encouraged to participate in an artistic expression competition. Food can be purchased at the event. Entertainment will feature emcee Erika Blue from Ozcat Radio, 89.5 FM KZCT.
The application deadline for vendors and exhibitors is April 4. Performers may submit links to videos on YouTube to be considered for the entertainment program. Download the application, or contact the committee about performing, at www.vallejojuneteenth.com.
