By From page A3 | November 27, 2012

FAIRFIELD — Local residents are invited to hike off Thanksgiving turkey and pie from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday with naturalist Jim Walsh, who will take hikers around the King-Swett Ranches in Vallejo.

All ages are welcome. Participants must be prepared for a strenuous hike down rugged, steep and slippery hills. The hike is about six miles. Those who attend are encouraged to bring water and snacks. Boots or sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants and layered clothes are recommended.

Binoculars, a camera, bug repellent, hiking sticks and gaiters are also welcome.

To participate, meet Walsh by his white “TruGreen” pickup truck, at the park-and-ride lot where McGary Road, Hiddenbrooke Parkway and American Canyon Road intersect, off westbound Interstate 80 between Fairfield and Vallejo.
