Health insurance enrollment still available

By From page A3 | March 24, 2014

The week aheadFAIRFIELD — The Tri-City NAACP has scheduled a series of enrollment events for those who need health insurance and haven’t signed up for Covered California’s plans.

The sessions are scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Monday and Thursday at 1745 Enterprise Drive, Suite 108, in Fairfield. A state-certified enrollment counselor will take clients at each session through the process and get them signed up for health care coverage before they leave.

Those interested in getting assistance must call 389-6020 to make an appointment to meet with the counselor. They must also bring with them state or federal identification, such as a driver’s license; proof of residence, such as a utility bill; proof of citizenship, such as a Social Security card; and proof of income, such as a paycheck stub.

March 31 is the last day that Californians can sign up for coverage. After that date, anyone who lives in the state or the country without health insurance will be assessed a penalty.
