The week aheadFAIRFIELD — A local winery will provide the setting for a fundraiser next month that will benefit the area’s food bank.

GV Cellars will host the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano’s “Food Bank Uncorked” on Aug. 3. A fee includes wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres by MagPies catering and live music by Westbound 80. Proceeds from the event, which is sponsored by Tesoro Golden Eagle Refinery, will go directly to the food bank for its efforts to feed hungry people in the community.

Reservations for “Food Bank Uncorked” are required in advance at www.foodbankccs.org/uncorked.

The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano serves approximately 149,000 people each month, according to a press release. The food bank distributed 18 million pounds of food in 2013, enough for 14 million meals, and half of it was fresh produce.
