Garamendi lands House subcommittee posts

FAIRFIELD — Rep. John Garamendi was given his congressional subcommittee assignments Wednesday.

Garamendi, D-Fairfield, is the highest-ranking Democrat on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Subcommittee, and will serve on the committee’s Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee.

He will serve as well on the Strategic Forces, and the Tactical Air and Land subcommittees of the House Armed Services Committee.

The appointments were announced late Wednesday in a press release from Garamendi’s office.

Garamendi represents the newly configured 3rd Congressional District.

Glen Faison joined the Daily Republic as managing editor in September 2009. He previously worked as a reporter and editor for daily and weekly newspapers in the San Joaquin Valley for 20-plus years.
