FAIRFIELD — Rep. John Garamendi was given his congressional subcommittee assignments Wednesday.
Garamendi, D-Fairfield, is the highest-ranking Democrat on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Subcommittee, and will serve on the committee’s Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee.
He will serve as well on the Strategic Forces, and the Tactical Air and Land subcommittees of the House Armed Services Committee.
The appointments were announced late Wednesday in a press release from Garamendi’s office.
Garamendi represents the newly configured 3rd Congressional District.

He's a member of the Fairfield-Suisun Twilight Rotary Club and a board member for the Solano County Library Foundation. He married his wife, Jill, in 2005, and has three children: Courtni, Tyler and Hayli.
