WINTERS — A guided nature walk Saturday at Lake Solano Park will reveal the history and wildlife of the region.

Volunteers Cricket Kanouff and Kitty Van Newkoop will lead a free tour from 10 a.m. to noon, according to a press release from the Putah Creek Council.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the Patwin tribe and historic figures such as John Wolfskill and the Berryessa brothers. The guides will point out native trees and plants that have medicinal qualities, and wildlife such as great blue herons, snowy egrets and peacocks.

Lake Solano Park and Campground is located at 8685 Pleasants Valley Road, just off Highway 128 near Winters. The group will meet at the west entrance in front of the Nature Center. There is a parking fee, payable at the east entrance of the parking lot.
