FAIRFIELD — Oakley’s Jim Frazier held a convincing lead over Suisun City’s Mike Hudson late Tuesday night in the race for the 11th Assembly District.
With 55 percent of precincts reporting, Democratic nominee Frazier had all but assured a victory with 60 percent of the votes.
The two were vying for the newly redrawn 11th District, which had no incumbent. The district includes Solano County, Contra Costa County and a small portion of Sacramento County.
Frazier will now leave his post with the Oakley City Council and head to Sacramento.
“We’re just feeling elated. It’s a great evening,” Frazier said. “It’s gratifying that all of this hard work paid off.”
For Solano County voters, it’s the first time in years that the representative in the Assembly won’t be from Davis after terms by Lois Wolk and Mariko Yamada. Frazier said his time campaigning in the area gave him a good idea of what Solano County residents expect and see as major issues.
“I want to be a very attainable. I want to be talking to people and be the person they can reach out to,” Frazier said.
Hudson did not return phone calls Tuesday night.
